The local demo team has been preparing the ground for the rollout of TIGON's demonstration microgrid.
In preparation of going live this summer, the site has taken delivery of the microgrid hardware, which is now ready to be installed.
EU-funded projects HYPERRIDE and TIGON examine the potential of medium and low voltage AC-DC power grids in Europe.
In the last few months we have been working closely with a fellow H2020 project - HYPERRIDE.
Power electronics engineer Jesús Muñoz, from Spanish technology centre Fundación CIRCE, is the technical coordinator of the TIGON project. He explains how the project will improve grid flexibility and resilience while increasing the share of renewable energy in the power system.
A review paper by Greek research and technology institute – CERTH – highlights the advantages and challenges of low and medium voltage direct current microgrids.
TIGON is one of 88 projects featured in the 2021 edition of the BRIDGE initiative brochure.
Microgrid solutions being developed by the EU-funded project TIGON were presented at Sustainable Places 2021 in Rome. Alessandra Cuneo from RINA, speaking, focused on the small coastal town of Naantali, one of two "use cases" involved in the project.
